Plot
“Think ‘American Idol’ meets ‘The West Wing,’” “American Dreamz” star, Dennis Quaid, tells Wild concerning Movies in los angeles throughout a recent interview, once asked to explain his forthcoming pic. “I get to play the President of the united states. What can be a lot of fun?” film maker Paul Weitz—whose comic explorations have ventured into the synergistic halls of company culture (In smart Company), the perils of psychological foreign policy (About a Boy) and the vicissitudes of losing one’s condition (American Pie)—now delivers a comedy yanked from right-now standard culture…where the nation’s shrinking attention span is a lot of targeted on “what’s hot” than on hot-button headlines: yankee Dreamz. On the morning of his re-election, the President (Quaid) decides to browse the newspaper for the primary time in four years.
This starts him down a slippery slope. He begins reading obsessionally, reexamining his black and white read of the planet, holing up in his bedroom in his pajamas. Frightened by the President’s apparent breakdown, his Chief of employees (Dafoe) pushes him back into the spotlight, booking him as a guest choose on the tv ratings juggernaut (and the President’s personal fave), the weekly talent show American Dreamz.
America can’t appear to induce enough of yank Dreamz, hosted by self-aggrandizing, self-loathing Martin Tweed (Grant), ever on the lookout for ensuing insta-celebrity.
